Trying to Get into Splash Montana? Read This (Copy)
Corona has changed everything, even the way we cool off in the summer. With splash decks and spray pools closed for the summer, it’s time to start getting creative. For years, Splash Montana has been a reprieve in the hottest months of the year. But this year with limited entry due to the pandemic, it might take a little more planning. The water park in the middle of Missoula is managed by Missoula Parks and Rec, which decided to only allow 50 people in during an-hour-and-a-half time slot. There are only four time slots a day, meaning 200 people can get in and cool off per day.
Oh, but if you are one of those lucky ones it is heavenly. You practically feel like you have the whole place to yourself. No waiting for a changing room. No stalking the perfect lounge chair to stretch out. No jockeying for the inner tubes or standing in long lines for the water slides.
After a couple of failed attempts to claim a time slot, here’s some things I’ve learned that will help claiming or spot easier.
Make sure you have an account with Missoula Parks and Recreation using this link. You’ll want to add everyone in your household to the account even if they aren’t all swimming. This will make future registrations easier.
Click this link and scroll to Page 4 to find the calendar of open time slots. Swim times are at noon, 2, 4, and 6 Monday-Wednesday and Friday. Thursday at 6 p.m. is adult-only night and the water park is closed in the evenings on Saturday and Sunday.
If the internet option isn’t working, you could call 721-PARK to reserve your spot.
Have your credit card ready. You’ll need to pay up front or use a punch card.
THIS ONE IS IMPORTANT: Missoula Parks and Rec only releases spots a week in advance. So if you want to swim on Friday, you have to claim your spot the previous Friday. You’ll have to plan well in advance.
Wake up early. The first time I tried to claim tickets at around 10 a.m. and they were already sold out for the day. The next attempt, I woke up at 7:30 a.m. and that worked better.
Best of luck! We hope you get in! if you’ve gotten to enjoy Splash Montana, tell us about it in the comments!
