The Front Steps Project
2020 will go down in our collective history as the year that got weird. Three months in, and we’re all supposed to stay in our homes for the majority of the time while we ride out the COVID-19 worldwide pandemic. We did NOT see that coming. When things feel uncertain, there’s one thing we can cling to: our love for our family and community. That’s why we’ve decided to participate in The Front Steps Project.
We are documenting this time by taking five-minute “Front Steps Portraits” of Missoula residents. Our in-house photographer Tiffany Williams with Tiffany Photography will spend Thursday, March 26 scurrying around town to snap super fast images of Missoula families on their front steps. Our goal is to document this interesting time and bring us together virtually since we can’t be together face to face.
We’re also raising money for those in our community who need it most. As we know, the retail, hospitality, travel, and service industries have been hit hardest by this epidemic. We ask that every family that accepts a portrait make a donation to Missoula County United Way, the boots-on-the-ground organization helping cash-strapped Missoulians with bills, rent, and food.
Here’s how it works. Fill out the information below, and Tiffany will contact you with a time slot. When it’s time for your photos, Tiffany will text you to let you know she’s at your house and you can come out to have your photo taken. Within 24 hours, Tiffany will send the photo to your email. She will use a long-range lens and there will be no touching during the session. We are committed to following safe social distancing protocol.
We will try to honor people’s schedules, but we will most likely need to adhere to the following:
Miller Creek/South Missoula 10 a.m.-11:00
Franklin-Fort/Central Missoula 11:00-noon
Northside/Rattlesnake/University 2:30-3:30
Westside/Hellgate 3:30-5
Make it fun! Is your family hanging out in their jammies all day? Well put on your best PJs and head outside! Are mom and dad uneasy about their new role as teachers? A stack of textbooks make a great prop! Did you manage to change out of your bathrobe and brush your hair? You’re the new valedictorian of the quarantine! Use letter boards to write a message, have your kids decorate a sign, do whatever to make it memorable!
THANK YOU to those who’ve registered. Registration is FULL at this time but we look forward to sharing these photos with everyone!
