Thanksgiving 2020: Something Sweet

You can’t have Thanksgiving without pumpkin pie! Well some people would disagree, my husband being one of them. In fact, he’s not a fan of most Thanksgiving staples, like stuffing. I mean WHO doesn’t like stuffing?! Don’t answer that.

Homemade dessert isn’t really my forte, mostly because I don’t have a sweet tooth and prefer savory dishes and comfort food. But in our family of six, I’m really the only one who doesn’t perk up when someone hollers “time for dessert!”

Typically, I stick with purchasing a pumpkin pie or relying on my mother in law to bake one but I’ve tried my hand at a few other desserts over the years. Plus, my husband always enjoys a chocolate banana cream pie on Thanksgiving, just like his grandma used to make.

While it’s not quite like grandma’s chocolate banana cream pie, Ina Garten’s recipe is pretty darn close. Below are a few other sweet treats to serve up on Thanksgiving.
