Back In Business: Salons & Other Personal Care
Whether you’ve succumbed to becoming your own hairdresser or decided to let your locks be wild and free, you may be one of the many clamoring to get an appointment now that salons in Missoula were able to re-open. But as hairdressers, barbers, nail technicians, estheticians and other personal care professionals begin scheduling appointments, it won’t be ‘business as usual.’
The Missoula County Health Department announced that personal care businesses can re-open on May 11, 2020 provided they “ meet the minimum requirements in the Health Officer’s May 8 order.” As part of their re-opening, personal care businesses are required to take extra precautions to ensure the safety and well-being of their clients and employees. Many businesses have posted on their social media pages what they’re doing to give their clients and team a little peace of mind.
Urban Roots, a local salon that offers hair, nails, and waxing services, shared what they will be doing to keep their clients and team safe:
And Polished Beauty Salon posted this:
A number of personal care businesses opted to re-open on May 11, 2020 following the Missoula County Health Department’s official notice. After nearly a week of being back to work, Urban Roots stylist Aimee Stubb said:
“It’s been so busy but it has been really nice seeing my clients again. I have so many dedicated clients that I’m trying to get rescheduled and make sure they know I’m doing my best to keep them safe but I’ve also had to figure out new childcare arrangements since my children aren’t in school and I typically see clients during the week.”
Still, some businesses decided to postpone their re-opening. Boom Swagger Salon posted on their social media that they’ll be re-opening next week on May 18, 2020 and included their new protocol to keep their clients and team safe:
Many personal care businesses are utilizing online appointment booking, however, some still ask that you schedule your appointment by phone. As stylists, barbers, nail technicians and other personal care professionals are finding themselves busier than ever trying to reschedule clients and meet the needs of new clients, they’re asking for your help in being patient.
Urban Roots owner and stylist, Heather McGuire Carden, shared this:
“We are going to do everything we possibly can to keep them [clients] safe as well as ourselves. Patience will be required by all, we have a lot of new changes and safety measures in place that we are trying to navigate.”
Earlier this week we published an article sharing ways you can be a conscientious consumer as you consider re-joining the economy and how to do so comfortably. Remember, we are all in this together so being mindful of how we treat others will go a long way in helping get through this pandemic!
