Missoula County Public Schools Board of Trustees laid out a phased-in approach to learning on campus five days a week.

Before last night’s school board meeting, students had been learning in classrooms two days a week and remotely two days, alternating beginning and end of week based on last names. This model allowed for smaller classroom sizes.

But beginning Oct. 12, K-8 students will be back in the classroom Tuesday-Friday on Oct. 12, during the district’s Hybrid Plus phase. High schoolers will remain attending on alternate days.

Come Nov. 9, all students will attend classes on campus Monday-Friday except those who opted to do the Online Academy.

According to the Missoulian: “ Under Phase 2, classroom sizes would inevitably increase, with K-5 class size averages ranging between 16-20 students, grades 6-8 ranging between 21-22 students and high schools ranging from 16-17 students per class at the large schools and 12 at Willard, according to MCPS.”
