Drop In Daycare Closing Permanently

Drop-in daycares in Missoula are hard to come by, and now with recent Covid-19 related challenges, you’ll have an even harder time securing last-minute childcare.

Popular daycare Little Griz Cub House, has announced they are closing immediately, with no plans of reopening. The facility, which provides drop in daycare, summer camps and more shared in a Facebook post that due to staffing issues, compounded by a rise in Covid cases, they will no longer be able to provide care.

“It is with heavy hearts that we let you know we will be shutting Lil Griz effective immediately. We cannot weather shut downs due to Covid cases and with this new variant that looks to be an issue. This in addition to not being able to find staff has forced us to make this very difficult decision.

“Thank you so much for the great privilege of taking care of all your kids these years. It truly has been one of the greatest joys of my life.

“We know this is sudden and we are so very sorry for the inconvenience.”

Another drop-in daycare in Missoula has weathered similar challenges but remains open. Garden Grove, located at 1527 South Ave. West, is now closed on Saturdays and Sundays and closes at 8 p.m. on weekdays. A recent post on their Facebook page indicates they are still trying to hire more staff.

In Hamilton, Dahlia’s Darlings, a drop-in childcare facility in downtown, plans to host a grand opening on Aug. 21.
